Detectives on Monday identified Lon Lewis Hunt, 35, and Cynthia Renee Browning, 28, as suspects in the arson fire that caused only minor damage to a home on the 900 block of Sunset Avenue, according to the Medford Police Department. The resident discovered the fire at his front door around 6 a.m. and was able to douse it before it caused major damage, Medford police Lt. Tim George said. George said the couple are suspected of rigging a lit propane container and a can of hair spray, expecting it to explode on the house’s front door while the male victim was inside, George said. Witness information and interviews collected since the incident helped police identify Hunt and Browning as their suspects, George said. Advertisement "We have probable cause to arrest these two people and we’d like to find them," George said Monday. Hunt and Browning were both wanted on charges of first-degree arson and manufacturing and possession of a destructive device, police said. First-degree arson carries with it a mandatory minimum sentence of 7½ years in prison upon conviction under the Measure 11 criminal sentencing guidelines. George declined to discuss any possible motive in the arson. "Obviously, the suspects knew the victim," George said. "This was not a random act." Hunt was described as a white male standing 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. Browning was described as a white female standing 5 feet 5 inches and weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The pair may be traveling in a blue 1990 Toyota four-door sedan with Oregon license plate VQA-408. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to call Detective Bill Ford at 774-2236.
