Jackson County sees uptick in COVID-19 cases By Vickie Aldous Updated: Apr 08, 2022 04:51 PM A A Case counts remain relatively low Jackson County saw an uptick in COVID-19 cases over the past week compared to the previous week, but counts remained relatively low. From Friday, April 1, through Thursday, April 7, Jackson County logged 87 new COVID-19 cases, up slightly from 76 the previous week, according to Oregon Health Authority data. During the worst parts of the pandemic, Jackson County would log more than 87 cases in a single day. Josephine County's numbers for April 1-7 dropped to 16 new COVID-19 cases, down from 34 cases the previous week, OHA data shows. OHA reported nine COVID-19-related deaths of Jackson County residents and seven deaths of Josephine County residents for April 1-7. For the previous week, OHA reported four COVID-19-related deaths of Jackson County residents and three deaths of Josephine County residents. Not all deaths reported by OHA are recent. There can be a lag time of months as state epidemiologists review death records and the cause of death. Hospitals in the two counties were caring for 12 patients Monday with the COVID-19 virus.
