Nighttime paving will begin Sunday, July 29, on nine miles of Interstate 5 from Grants Pass Exit 58 to near Rogue River Exit 48. Drivers will encounter single-lane traffic from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. The completion date is Friday, Sept. 28, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. Prime contractor Oregon Mainline Paving of McMinnville will begin the $7.6 million project with rumble strip removal. Travel lane and ramp paving will begin several nights later. The project includes installation of new retro-reflective striping, which reflects light back toward drivers. Travelers will be detoured at night with advance warning signs when the Grants Pass on- and off-ramps at Exit 58 and Exit 55 are paved.
