Win the final two SOC games and own the conference title outright. But now the Tornado must sweat it out. Daniel Bennett struck out seven and held North Medford to six hits as Klamath Union scored a 5-1 victory in the nightcap of a doubleheader split and dealt a serious blow to the Tornado’s title hopes. North cruised to a 12-0 victory in five innings in Game 1 behind Cole Rohrbough’s no-hit shutout. South Medford, which was tied with North (20-6, 16-5 SOC) heading into Friday, can claim the SOC title all to itself with a twin-bill sweep of Crater today. If the Panthers (15-4 conference) split or get swept by the Comets, the Black Tornado wins the SOC. Advertisement Bennett worked out of jams in three different innings on Friday, but held North in check for the remainder of the contest. Pitcher Josh Suarez entered Game 2 allowing only eight walks all season, but yielded four free passes in the losing effort. Beau Hovland had three hits in four at-bats to lead the Tornado. In Game 1, Rohrbough struck out nine and ran his record to 4-2. The only hard-hit ball by the Pelicans was a liner to start the sixth that was snagged at second base by Kyle Williamson.
