Mustangs knock off top-ranked Ontario By From staff, wire reports Mar 12, 2008 12:00 AM A A CORVALLIS — Jamie Richardson had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists Tuesday as No. 7 Hidden Valley knocked off top-ranked Ontario 46-33 in an OSAA 4A girls basketball state quarterfinal at Gill Coliseum. Haley Fikso added 14 points and Laura Silva 12 for Hidden Valley (23-4). Ontario (23-4) was led by Alla Dzhidzhiyeshvili, who had nine points and four rebounds. Hidden Valley, of Grants Pass, never trailed. The game was tied just once, at 7-7 early in the second quarter. "They did a really good job of refocusing after our last win against Junction City," said head coach Mike Schaefer. "That was a really tough win for us." Fikso scored six of Hidden Valley's eight second-quarter points and the Mustangs led 15-10 at halftime. Hidden Valley held Ontario to 2 of 18 shooting from the field for the first half. Hidden Valley widened its lead in the third quarter. The Mustangs used a 10-2 run to go ahead 25-15 after Ontario had closed within two. Ontario, which had won 12 straight games entering the tournament, got no closer than seven points in the fourth quarter. "They did a good job of winning every quarter," said Schaefer. "They were able come out each time and make the adjustments that we need to make." Hidden Valley advances to a Thursday semifinal to play Marist, which beat Seaside 45-29.
