The Knights got it and beat the Pirates 25-23, 25-19 and 25-18. The outcome left North Valley in second place in the Skyline with a 7-2 record, while Phoenix, at 6-3, fell into a third- place tie with Henley. "We felt like we got the short end of the stick last time so we were looking forward to this one," North Valley coach Shannon Skirvin said. "This win was important for seedings in the playoffs," Skirvin added. Advertisement North Valley got a monster match from 6-foot-3 middle blocker Elaina Renius, who led the Knights with 18 kills, four aces and four blocks. Senior setter Carly Burns also had a good match with 21 assists. "She was amazing tonight," Skirvin said. "Carly was very tough on the floor." North Valley also got 25 combined kills from Nicole Buth and Heidi Kramer. LAKEVIEW 25-25-25, ROGUE RIVER 11-13-10 — At Rogue River, sixth ranked Lakeview (18-4, 10-0 Skyline) remained on top of the conference with a win behind senior Caitlin Albertson’s 13 kills. Senior Jenna Kiely was second for the Honkers with 12 kills. Sophomore setter Anneke Tucker was another bright spot for Lakeview, putting together a strong night with 31 assists and five kills. ILLINOIS VALLEY 25-20-25-25, HIDDEN VALLEY 18-25-9-17 — At Cave Junction, Kim Hamilton sparked Illinois Valley with 20 kills, seven blocks and eight aces. Ericka Riley added seven kills and seven aces for the Cougars. HENLEY 25-25-25, MAZAMA 15-13-14 — At Klamath Falls, sophomore middle Jenna Matchett and freshman middle Megan Christianson each provided 10 kills for Henley. The Hornets used effective serving to keep Mazama out of an aggressive attack. Henley had five aces in the match, with Rachel Jertberg getting four. Southern Cascade League CASCADE CHRISTIAN 26-25-25-25, ST. MARY’S 28-22-14-18 — Junior Natalie Dicus led Cascade Christian with 19 kills and 16 digs while fellow junior Kyleen Johnson recorded 10 kills and 14 assists to help secure the win in the SCL match. Chrissy Seus had a dominant game for St. Mary’s, tying the Crusader record for kills at 26 for the second time while tallying 27 digs. Kathryn Zielony led St. Mary’s with 42 digs and put down 10 kills. Audrey Holmes led the Challengers with 18 digs with Vicky Lawrence chipping in 11 digs of her own. Lawrence also had a good offensive match, passing and serving the ball well throughout the four games. Freshman Melissa Gmur led Cascade Christian in assists with 19 and was all over the court with six digs, three service aces and two kills for the Challengers. Cascade Christian (11-3, 7-1) is tied with Glendale for first place in the SCL. Skyline A League BUTTE FALLS 25-25-25, PROSPECT 5-17-7 — At Butte Falls, seniors Cassy Bartel and Cathi St. George each put up a team-best eight kills as Butte Falls (15-6, 8-0 Skyline A) defeated Prospect in three games. The Loggers were strong from the service line, posting 28 aces as a team. Senior Brianna Smeltz added to the offensive attack, posting 17 assists in the Skyline A match.
