The Comets (5-1) face the Newberg-Milwaukie winner tonight. Hassett, a 6-foot-2 post, has three times been named a first-team all-star in the Metro Conference and is headed to Gonzaga on a scholarship. However, she was limited to no field goals and scored eight points, going 8-for-8 on free throws. "We paid a lot of attention to her," said Crater coach Scott Dippel. "That’s as big a stat as any other we had. We did a really good job of staying really disciplined in the half court and keeping her out of spots she’s comfortable in." With Tyska protecting behind Hassett and guards dropping off to help, the Comets double- and triple-teamed the latter. Advertisement "We were still quick enough to contest shots by other players," said Dippel. "It definitely was our best defensive effort this year." Tyska, a 6-0 senior, had seven rebounds and eight blocked shots to go with six points. The Comets were led in scoring by Kenna Reiter’s 13 points. She also had eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Emily Brookins tallied 11 points and Jessica Wasniewski 10. CRATER (54) — Reiter 13, Brookins 11, Wasniewski 10, Holderness 8, N.
