New snow make-up days proposed for Medford students Friday Jan 27, 2017 at 10:28 AM Jan 27, 2017 at 10:28 AM Medford students would be in class on Feb. 20, March 13 and June 15-16 under a new proposal crafted by district and union leaders to make up snow days. The proposal must be approved by members of both the Medford Education Association and Oregon School Employees Association, according to a Medford School District release. The district met with union officials Tuesday after MEA members rejected an earlier proposal to make up the four days of school students missed because of a snowstorm the first week of January. Union votes should be confirmed by Wednesday, district spokeswoman Natalie Hurd said in the release. The School Board would then vote on the new calendar Feb. 6, she said. The new proposal extends the school year by two days and takes advantage of Presidents Day (Feb. 20) and a parent-teacher conference day (March 13).
