Saturday, Oct. 16 HOLIDAY MARKET : Enterprise Grange's third annual Holiday Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Enterprise Grange, 8700 East Evans Creek Road, Wimer. You can shop for Halloween and Thanksgiving items and Christmas gifts and decorations. GRIEF SERIES : WinterSpring, Center for Living with Grief and Loss begins a new class Saturday, Oct. 16. Title of the program is "Beyond Condolence: Helping the Bereaved." The class is for anyone who encounters grieving people in the course of work or personal life. The program is especially helpful for teachers, caregivers, social service providers, chemical dependency counselors and medical professionals. This series is required for people who want to help grieving children and adults by volunteering at WinterSpring. Elizabeth Bryant is the bereavement educator and series coordinator. DRAMATIZATION : "Maximilian: Saint of Auschwitz," an original one-man dramatization, will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, corner of S. Oakdale Avenue and 11th Street, Medford. Actor Leonardo Defilippis brings to life the story of Maximilian Kolbe, "the saint of our difficult age," as Pope John Paul II calls him. Defilippis is known throughout the United States, Canada and Europe for his highly acclaimed dramas on the gospels and the lives of saints. The production is a professional one and features sets, lights, costumes and an original musical score. It is suitable for ages 10 and up. There is no admission charge. A free-will offering will be received. OKTOBERFEST : St. Vincent de Paul will host an Oktoberfest starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2424 N. Pacific Highway, Medford. The event includes a traditional German dinner, music and singing. There will be a raffle for prizes. Admission is $5 per person. All proceeds go to support the society's work with the poor. SONGWRITERS WORKSHOP : The songwriters workshop is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every third Saturday of the month. Monday, Oct. 18 TRAVELING EXHIBIT : The Southern Oregon Historical Society is hosting a free exhibit titled "The AT&T Treasures of Oregon." This dramatic traveling exhibition will be housed in a huge trailer located on Winburn Way in Ashland's Lithia Park. The exhibit remains in Ashland Oct. 18-20. It then moves to the corner of Fifth and C streets in Jacksonville from Oct. 22-24. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at both locations. Those viewing the exhibit will see the Oregon Historical Society's priceless collections of objects and artifacts, photographs and film, manuscripts, maps, paintings and books. Elaborate 19th century Native American dance aprons, a concertina brought across the Oregon Trail by the Rev. John Spencer, ancient Columbia River petroglyphs, stone sculptures and other treasures unique to Oregon will be on display. Call 773-6536. Friday, Oct. 22 RODEO : The 1999 Wild Rogue ProRodeo takes place Friday through Sunday, Oct. 22-24, at the Jackson County Exposition Park in Central Point. Doors open at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the rodeo begins at 7 p.m. On Sunday, doors open at noon and action starts at 1 p.m. General admission for Friday and Saturday is $12 in advance for adults and kids; and $14 reserved. The price goes up $2 at the door. General admission for Sunday is $9 for adults in advance and $4.50 for kids. At the door it's $11 and $5.50, respectively. BAZAAR : Twenty skilled craftsmen, painters, and photographers will offer their works at an artist's and craftsman Bazaar, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in Wesley Hall, at the First Methodist Church, North Main at Laurel, Ashland. Profits from this bazaar will benefit the Siskiyou Singers, a non-profit, volunteer community choir. Saturday, Oct. 23 TRAINING : A community-wide training on asset building will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in the meeting room of the First Assembly of God, 1108 W. Main, Medford. The training is mainly for those who volunteer to work with children, but all are welcome. Participants will look at building blocks for young people's successful growth and development. Friday, Nov. 5 MARA : The Mount Ashland Racing Association, (MARA) a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality, low cost athletic and skier development for the valley's children, is sponsoring a ski and sports swap. The event runs Nov. 5-7 in Medford. An early bird sale opens from 9 to 10 p.m. Friday. Regular sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, at the cafeteria of North Medford High. Those wishing to sale equipment will pay $1 per item that is checked in. MARA will retain 20 percent of the sales.
