Eagles fly past Bandon EAGLE POINT -- Using a stifling defense, the Eagle Point girls varsity team got off on the right foot Wednesday with a 59-28 non-conference win over Bandon in the season-opener for both teams. The Eagles (1-0) pressured Bandon into 24 turnovers, with many coming in the first quarter as Eagle Point raced to a 20-8 lead. "We're young and inexperienced but we do have some quickness and our press bothered them early," said Eagle Point coach Tom McCracken. The Eagles dialed down the heat after the first quarter but were still able to separate from an over-matched Bandon team with a 24-7 run in a well-executed third quarter. Senior Dusty Damon picked up where she left off after a stellar junior campaign, leading Eagle Point with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Aubrey Harrington converted 6-of-8 shots in her varsity debut.
