Man seriously hurt in shooting west of Grants Pass Thursday Sep 8, 2016 at 6:00 PM By Jeff Duewel and Timothy BullardGrants Pass Daily Courier A man was shot and wounded Thursday morning west of Grants Pass in what neighbors say was an ongoing dispute. The Oregon State Police reported that at 6:43 a.m., troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a shooting at 4444 Redwood Highway, just west of Midway Avenue. They found a man there suffering from a gunshot wound. OSP and Austin Prince, division chief for Rural/Metro Fire Department, confirmed that a man was taken by ambulance to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center for serious injuries. At least six law enforcement vehicles were on the scene at 8:30 a.m., with crime scene tape surrounding the property. Lt. Darin Lux of OSP said at the scene it was too early to tell how serious the injuries to the victim were. OSP said other people at the location were cooperating with the investigation. Names were being withheld for the time being. Neighbor Amy Iacono was lying in bed when she heard a loud shot, then heard a woman screaming. “I heard her say ‘Richard, you shot him,’” Iacono said. “I called 911. It seemed like it took forever for OSP to arrive. Probably 20 minutes.” Her husband, Bear Iacono, said the shot sounded like a cannon, likely a shotgun. He said the wounded man was the ex-husband of a woman living at the residence. “This has been an ongoing dispute,” he added.
