Police: Man shot by naked visitor in hot tub with victim's girlfriend Charles Bradford Curtis Thursday May 4, 2017 at 9:25 AM May 4, 2017 at 9:54 AM A man is in jail on an attempted murder charge after shooting a man Wednesday night in east Medford, an incident police say stemmed from a fight over the victim's girlfriend. The incident was reported just after 9 p.m. at a home in the 4600 block of Eagle Trace Lane, according to a news release from Medford police. The victim, a 58-year-old man, had returned home where he resided with his long-term girlfriend, the release said. When the man arrived, he found his girlfriend in a hot tub with 53-year-old Charles Bradford Curtis, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who had been staying at the home during a visit with the couple. Both Curtis and the woman were unclothed, police said. A physical fight ensued between Curtis and the victim, and the victim asked Curtis to leave. Curtis did not, and the two men got into a verbal dispute, police said. Curtis reportedly shot the man in the upper torso with a handgun during the altercation. The victim was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. The injury is "serious but not believed to be life-threatening," police said. The handgun has been recovered, and the victim remains hospitalized. His condition is not known. Curtis remains in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bail on attempted murder and first-degree assault charges.
