North Medford has little trouble with Ashland Minus a few of its regulars, the North Medford track and field team still took care of business on Tuesday. The Black Tornado girls had little trouble downing Ashland, 101-40, and the boys followed suit with a 99-46 victory. Sarah Rountree missed her second straight dual meet with a bad foot, but she should be ready to run for North in the district meet next week. North's Alex Gomez also was held to limited action due to injury. The Black Tornado girls won 13 of the 17 events, while the boys took 14. "We tried to rest some kids and not get anyone injured," said North Medford coach Mark Hodges. "There were still some pretty good marks." Junior Jamie Meager won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.58 seconds and filled in for Rountree to help North to a victorious time of 49.74 in the 4x100 relay. Rosana Medina won the long jump with a solid mark of 17 feet, 2 inches, then finished with a time of 47.97 to win the 300 hurdles. In boys, David Faaeteete won the shot put with a 48-41/2 then took the discus with a toss of 148-3. In other SOC action, Crater's Chris Dearmon broke out of a mild slump with a 59-foot throw in the shot put and came back with a lifetime-best mark of 158-11/2 in the discus as the Comets swept past Eagle Point. The Eagles' Alisa Lee fell short of her conference-leading mark in the discus but still posted a solid 124-111/2 mark. BOYS TEAM SCORES - North Medford 99, Ashland 46.
