SOU women fall in Alaska ANCHORAGE, Alaska Southern Oregon could not find its shooting touch and got decisively outrebounded in suffering a 51-29 season-opening womens basketball loss to Alaska Anchorage Friday. Southern Oregon shot 25 percent from the field and was outrebounded 48-28. The Raiders trailed 10-8 with 10 minutes to go in the first half. "I thought we were playing very well defensively at that point," Southern Oregon coach Shirley Huyett said. Then Anchorage went on a 14-0 run and took a 25-12 lead at halftime. "We just didnt execute well enough to get open shots, and when we did, we didnt make them," said Huyett. "For the rest of the time, we were scrambling to find something that would work, but unfortunately we didnt."
