Rogue Credit Union wins three awards Rogue Credit Union walked off with three awards Thursday at the Northwest Credit Union Association Amplify Convention Awards Banquet. RCU received a first place Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award for its Giving Local campaign, introducing more than 42,000 local residents to 21 nonprofit organizations supporting youth, families, education or sustainability. It also donated more than $64,000 to its foundation to support local nonprofits. The credit union also received a first place Desjardins Youth Financial Education award for its Financial Education DVD in a Box, a kit containing videos, slide shows, assessments and handouts that help kids understand savings and checking accounts, budgeting and credit. The NWCUA will advance both entries to the Credit Union National Association competition. RCU also received a second-place financial education award for its online financial education materials. Website developer speaks at luncheon Website developer Brandon Kirkland will discuss online success for companies Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Lunch, Learn & Launch presented by Southern Oregon University's Small Business Development Center. Kirkland will review Search Engine Optimization (SEO), customer life optimization and attracting online customers. Kirkland, owner of EpicFlowers, has been creating websites since 1996 and has worked with more than 100 North American businesses. The hour-long free event at the Higher Education Center, 101 S. Bartlett St., Medford, begins at 12:15 p.m. Medford foreclosure rates show declines Real estate analytics firm CoreLogic reported a year-over-year decline in Medford-area foreclosure rates in July. The Irvine, Calif.-based firm said the rate of Medford-area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 1.98 percent for July 2015, compared to 2.64 percent in July 2014. However, the local rate, was higher than the national foreclosure rate of 1.26. Medford's mortgage delinquency rate — with loans 90 or more days delinquent — decreased as well, falling more than 1 percent to 3.96 percent, compared to 4.99 percent a year earlier.
