Editorials are joint operation For most of the Mail Tribune's life, the paper's editorials were signed by the editor who wrote them. Apparently, now the editorials are written by a committee. Why did the Mail Tribune change this policy? If you don't sign your editorials, we the readers do not know whom to congratulate or criticize. -- Larry S., Jacksonville Well, Larry, how about if we sign just the editorials we think we'll receive congratulations for? (Just kidding, of course.) Actually, we stopped signing editorials more than five years ago, on May 22, 1994, to be exact. The editorial is the opinion of the newspaper. One person writes it out of necessity but with the agreement of others on our editorial board. We checked and discovered the following Oregon papers also do not sign their editorials: The Oregonian, the Salem Statesman-Journal, the Eugene Register-Guard, the Roseburg News-Review, the Klamath Falls Herald and News and the Ashland Daily Tidings. The Grants Pass Daily Courier does sign its editorials, and others may as well. (Send your questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
