Students charged in bomb threats Two local high school students are in trouble with police after making bomb threats at their high schools. In the first incident, a 15-year-old North Medford High School student was cited by police Wednesday for making a bomb threat that disrupted her school for two hours Monday. The girl was cited for disorderly conduct, reckless endangering and initiating a false report. A caller told North Medford High school at 10:55 a.m. Monday that a bomb would go off in the school. People were evacuated and the school was searched. By 1 p.m., it was determined to be a hoax. Medford police Lt. Tim George said police are continuing to investigate and there may be another person or two involved. George said it was "kind of a cruel joke" to be making a bomb threat at this time, in light of last week's shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. In a similar incident Wednesday, a 16-year-old Butte Falls High School student was arrested and lodged in juvenile detention after making a bomb threat at the school. Officials at the high school Wednesday found a message written on a wall which said "There is a bomb planted at the school. It will go off tomorrow 4/28/99." The Jackson County sheriff's department searched the school and found nothing. The threat delayed school for two hours.
