North Medford holds off Sheldon’s late charge By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Dec 07, 2022 09:50 PM A A The North Medford wrestling team opened its Southwest Conference-opening dual fast and then had to hold off a late Sheldon charge to capture a 41-32 win over the Irish on Wednesday night at the Black Tornado’s gym. The Black Tornado won five of the first six matches in building a 29-6 lead over the Irish. North got wins from Skyler Hall on a technical fall at 106 pounds, then pins from 120-pounder Joseph Borraggine, Benjamin Morgan at 126 pounds, Owen Gutches at 138 and heavyweight Robert Caster. All four pins took no more than 1 minute, 36 seconds. Sheldon, however, ripped off five straight wins of its own to take a slim lead over North before the Black Tornado’s Max Barnard (195 pounds) and Roquin Michael (220 pounds) claimed wins via pin. North Medford will be one of the handful of local teams who will make the trip to the Oregon coast later this week to compete in the North Bend Coast Classic, which gets underway on Friday. *106 — Skyler Hall, NM, tech fall Vielka Zuniga, 15-0; 113 — Lisseth Monzon, S, win by forfeit; 120 — Joseph Borraggine, NM, pinned Marshall Allen, 1:36; 126 — Benjamin Morgan, NM, pinned Nathan Mellow, 1:12. 138 — Owen Gutches, NM, pinned Jacob Bratland, 1:04; 145 — Mason Stucky, S, pinned Logan McDougal, 3:33; 152 — Stephen Mellow, S, pinned Even Reyes, 1:05; 160 — Isaiah Tichenor, S, pinned Kaden Baker, 5:02. 170 — Owen Oliver, S, pinned Andrew Sikens, 4:58; 182 — Bricen Stewart, S, dec.
