Grizzlies drop season opener By Joe Zavala Sep 02, 2016 12:00 AM A A Churchill outlasted Ashland in a five-set thriller in the Midwestern League opener for both teams Thursday at Churchill High School in Eugene. The Lancers, who improved to 1-2 overall, won the last two sets to prevail, 25-15, 19-25, 19-25, 27-25, 16-14. Ashland was playing its season opener. Sierra Sharma had 18 kills to lead Churchill, while McKenna Woolley added 10 digs and 10 kills and Sophie Brennen six aces. Ashland's statistics were not available at press time.
