Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend February 10, 2006 Mazama slips past North Valley KLAMATH FALLS — A rough start, coupled with some clutch Mazama free-throw shooting down the stretch spelled doom for North Valley in a 55-47 Vikings’ victory in a Skyline Conference boys basketball game Thursday. The Knights (12-9, 3-6 Skyline) scored only 15 points in the first half, then watched as Mazama’s Drew Reed sank 7 of 9 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to seal the win. "We came out flatter than heck getting off the bus," said North Valley coach Rob Boye, whose team lost to Hidden Valley on Tuesday, 52-17. "I think we had pretty heart-wrenching loss on Tuesday and that carried over a little." The Knights crept to within one point in the third quarter but Mazama responded and led the rest of the way. "We got it going in the second half," said Boye. "To Mazama’s credit, they made some clutch free throws down the stretch." North Valley’s Nate Ellis led all scorers with 21 points, while Josh Makepeace added 14 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals, four assists and three blocks. Derek Vandehey had seven assists.
