Crash, grass fire slow I-5 traffic north of Talent Traffic backs up to Barnett Road approaching new south I-5 interchange Friday after a power outage in south Medford left traffic lights dark. Mail Tribune / Jim Craven Thursday Jun 29, 2017 at 12:26 PM Jun 29, 2017 at 12:38 PM Northbound traffic on Interstate 5 has slowed to a crawl near exit 21 because of a vehicle crash off the shoulder that sparked a grass fire. The northbound slow lane is closed, with traffic getting by slowly in the passing lane, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The vehicle is reportedly a white sport utility vehicle, which was burning off the shoulder near a grassy area that caught fire. The fire reached about one-tenth of an acre before it was put out around 12:25 p.m. Information on injuries and the cause were not immediately available.
