Cow Creek awards $77,000 in grants to Jackson County groups Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jun. 27, 2016 at 2:58 PM Posted Jun. 27, 2016 at 2:58 PM » Social News The Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation awarded $77,000 in grants to 14 nonprofit organizations located in Jackson County. The grants were announced Thursday during a ceremony at the Seven Feathers Convention Center in Canyonville. The Jackson County recipients include: Ashland Emergency Food Bank: $5,000 to provide fresh food for hungry people in Ashland and Talent. CASA of Jackson County: $10,000 to provide an outreach effort to community businesses, institutions and civic groups in order to recruit more CASA volunteers. Douglas Education Service District: $10,000 to provide a quality preschool program in Gold Hill for low-income children who also will serve as typical models for children with identified delays. Junior League of Jackson County: $5,000 to assist in providing healthy, easy to prepare, weekend food for hungry children. Medford First Christian Church: $5,000 to provide food and replace aging equipment needed for a food pantry and a weekly community dinner. Medford Senior Center: $5,000 to assist in providing services to low-income and at-risk seniors. Coyote Trails School of Nature: $5,000 to provide in-depth nature and art experiences linked to the core curriculum for fifth-grade students in eight classrooms at Title I schools in Jackson County. Resolve Center for Dispute Resolution and Restorative Justice: $3,000 to provide restorative justice training and facilitation for students and staff at Rogue River Junior/Senior High School. Rogue Outreach Center: $7,500 to support an afterschool enrichment program for middle-school youth in Rogue River. Rogue Retreat: $5,000 to prevent homelessness by subsidizing low-cost apartments and needed services for women graduating from residential treatment programs for addiction. Rogue Valley Symphony Association: $3,500 to provide the Link Up music education program to 680 students in grades 3-5 at three elementary schools in the Phoenix-Talent School District. Roots & Wings Child Development: $3,000 to provide scholarships for low- and moderate-income children to attend pre-school, as well as general operating support. Sanctuary One: $5,000 to provide youth with educational and therapeutic experiences by offering interactive field trips and service opportunities at a care farm. Set Free Christian Fellowship: $5,000 to provide emergency food to individuals and families through God's Food Pantry. During this round of giving, the CCUIF will award $374,500 to 64 organizations in a seven-county area that includes Coos, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lane counties. Since 1997, CCUIF awards have totaled $15.5 million.
