More beams to be set on exit 24 tonight Nov 19, 2014 12:00 AM A A The last four 34-ton beams in a crop of 19 being placed this week at exit 24 will be installed overnight. Hamilton Construction will place the girders between 10 tonight and 5 a.m. Thursday. Detours will be in place. Southbound Interstate 5 traffic will be rerouted onto Highway 99 between Medford and Talent, where they can re-enter the freeway. A total of 38 beams — 19 in each direction — will be placed by Thursday, Dec. 4. All northbound beams will be placed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly Tuesday, Dec. 2, through Thursday, Dec. 4. At that time, northbound I-5 traffic will be rerouted past the construction site using Phoenix's off- and on-ramps. The work is part of the ongoing $72 million Fern Valley interchange project, which will build Oregon's first diverging diamond interchange.
