One suspect arrested in Grants Pass pot robbery By Nick Morgan Updated: Mar 14, 2022 08:54 AM A A The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has captured one suspect accused of posing as police in a Grants Pass area marijuana robbery, but as many as seven more suspects may still be out there. Alan Jaasiel Lopez, 20 of San Antonio, Texas, was arrested Saturday afternoon on felony charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree kidnapping and impersonating a police officer on accusations he was among approximately eight suspects who attempted to take hundreds of pounds of marijuana at gunpoint from a marijuana operation in the 700 block of Pyle Drive near Grants Pass. The robbery investigation started with a 911 hang up call from the location at 1 p.m. Saturday, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office. Once on scene, sheriff’s deputies found multiple victims tied up, and approximately eight individuals described as Hispanic males who were armed and wearing clothing that resembled law enforcement equipment and uniforms. Police say they found Lopez near the scene of the robbery attempting to hide from police, and that he matched witness descriptions. During searches near the property where the robbery was reported, police say they’ve found evidence that includes a Drug Enforcement Administration hat, a ballistic vest, firearms and fake badges in the wooded area. Police ask residents near Pyle Drive to keep a lookout for similar items that may be related to this robbery case. If anything suspicious is spotted, police ask witnesses not to move or touch the items, and call the sheriff’s office immediately at 541-774-5123.
