Miguel Angel Reyna-Ramos has been charged in U.S. District Court in Eugene with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. State charges against him in Jackson County Circuit Court were dismissed. A Central Point OSP trooper arrested Reyna-Ramos May 18 when a search of his SUV during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 turned up 26.9 pounds of meth and 4.6 pounds of heroin.  According to a complaint filed May 28 by a DEA agent from the agency's Medford office, Reyna-Ramos told investigators that he had been paid $200-300 to drive multiple cars back to his home in Tulare, Calif., from the Northwest. He allegedly told agents that he was directed by his boss in Mexico, through a third party, to pick up a Mercury Mountaineer from a motel parking lot in Ontario, Calif., and drive it to Washington, where it would be dropped off in either Spanaway or Tacoma. The complaint said Reyna-Ramos admitted to having made multiple trips in the past to drive cars south to California, where they were picked up and eventually sold in Mexico. Agents allegedly found numerous photos of firearms, Western Union receipts and suspected narcotics on his cellphone. Reyna-Ramos told investigators the receipts were related to favors he had done in the past for the same organization, which he assumed were also related to drug-trafficking activity. He told investigators he expected to be paid about $1,000 for driving the SUV to Washington.
