Jim Walker Jr. Continues successful run at S.O. Speedway Jim Walker Jr.'s dream season continued Saturday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway. The points leader in the pro stocks division, Walker earned his sixth feature win of the season in impressive fashion. Walker wrestled the lead from Butch Poppa after a re-start on the 17th lap and pulled away from the field to win the 25-lap main event. Frank Word III, who is second to Walker in points, made a late charge to finish second in the feature. Tom Glover made some serious noise in the modified class. The veteran driver opened the night 15th in the point standings before dominating the 25-lap feature. Glover led from early in the race and was never seriously threatened in winning his first main event of the season. An accident-prone feature in the sprint cars went to Dan Menne. Menne was the man in the main event, leading from wire to wire in the 20-lap feature. Matt Rodgers finished second to add to his points total, where he currently sits second, while points leader Chad Bauer was third. Menne started the night sixth in the points standings. Patrick Lanigan continued his winning ways in the mini stocks. Lanigan took control of the race at the midway point and went on to win for a second straight week and seventh time on the season. Racing continues next Saturday at the speedway beginning at 6 p.m. The speedway will also be in action on Monday, July 16 when the Northern Sprint Tour returns for a second and final time this season. The race is part of the annual Speedweek series, with events scheduled throughout the Pacific Northwest.
