Fatal stabbing victim identified, autopsy completed By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Sep 16, 2021 04:51 PM A A evidence markers on the floor, high contrast image The victim of a fatal stabbing that occurred early Wednesday in the 300 block of Eagle Mill Road near Ashland has been identified as Meghan Nicole Rodriguez, 38, of Portland, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office announced. An autopsy has been completed on the victim. According to the Oregon State Police forensic pathologist, the cause of her death is homicide. The suspect in this case is Auriel Zipher Scattergood, 30, of Ashland, who is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail, according to the Sheriff's Office. He has been charged with second-degree murder, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated animal abuse. Rodriguez’s dog was injured and required veterinary care as a result of the incident.
