No fatalities reported in officer-involved shooting south of Grants Pass By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Mar 07, 2022 12:11 PM A A No one died in the Oregon State Police shooting that closed both directions of Interstate 5 south of Grants Pass Sunday afternoon. Northbound and southbound traffic was detoured for roughly an hour starting shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday between Grants Pass and Rogue River due to “law enforcement activity” on the freeway. An Oregon State Police Public Information Officer did not answer questions about the incident, and said that Medford police will be the lead investigating agency. Medford police Deputy Chief Trevor Arnold said in a Monday morning email that preliminary details about the shooting investigation would be available later today, “but I do know the shooting was not fatal.” A press release with more information about the shooting is expected later this afternoon.
