As detectives piece together the story the evidence tells, one possibility — the working theory right now, according to Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau — is that suspects fired two shots from Iowa Street toward a residence in the 800 block of Narregan Street, then fled, but not before taking several more shots with a different weapon, which punched a hole in a home in the 700 block of Narregan Street. "That's about all we could extrapolate," Budreau said. "We believe that as they fled, they fired, with a different gun, potentially." Police have declined to release the specific calibers of the casings and say the investigation's conclusion could change as more information comes in. "We're keeping an open mind on this," Budreau said. The shooting was reported at 8:04 p.m. Sunday at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Narregan Street, which is near the Iowa Street intersection. Police said several witnesses spotted a silver 4-door Toyota Camry driving slowly around the neighborhood . Four people, all wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts, were seen in the car. At one point, the sedan parked on Iowa near Narregan. A man sitting on his front porch saw three of the vehicle's occupants get out, then start walking toward him. The man went inside his home and watched the trio through a window. They went back to the car, and the witness went outside, where he gestured at the car. "Kind of throwing the hands out to the side, like, 'What's up?' or 'What are you doing?' That was the gesture," Budreau said. One of the occupants answered with two gunshots. Neither bullet hit the man, and he fled back inside. A man who lives in the 700 block of Narregan Street, just down the street from the initial shooting, also reported a bullet went through his front window and into his living room before bouncing around the home's interior. The man, his wife and three children were not hit. That home was not believed to have been targeted. "We don't know why that house would be struck," Budreau said. This is the third shooting reported in west Medford since Sept. 9. None have yielded any injuries or deaths. The first shooting, a drive-by occurred at 10 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 500 block of Edwards Street, when bullets punched holes in a fence and home where at least two people live. No suspect information is available. At 7:11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, police say 17-year-old Tyler Sandoval fired three shots at an apartment complex stairwell in the 1000 block of Narregan Street, two blocks away from the most recent shooting. Those gunshots rang out when an argument between Sandoval and four other males was on the verge of turning physical with another group. One of Sandoval's entourage is suspected of swinging a bucket at a woman, which caused her to scream and drew several people to the area. Sandoval allegedly fired three shots. Then the group took off. Sandoval and suspected cohort Santiago Flores-Loveland, 18, remain at large, though police have arrested three of of the five thought to be present during the shooting. Alonzo Lee McBrown, 31, and Latraveon Deshawn "Trey" Wesley, 18, remain in the Jackson County Jail on charges of riot and conspiracy to commit assault, according to jail records. China Amir Acuna, 17, was lodged at Jackson County Juvenile, where he remained Monday, according to agency deputy director Joe Ferguson. It's not known if the Sunday night case is linked to the previous cases, but police aren't ruling it out. "We're not ruling (Sandoval) out as a suspect," Budreau said. Sandoval and Flores-Loveland are both described as Hispanic males. Sandoval is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds and has a tattoo of the numbers "817" on his neck. Flores-Loveland is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He also has a warrant out for his arrest after he walked away from the Oregon Youth Authority, where he had been lodged because of a previous drive-by shooting incident.
