[Photo courtesy Stracker Solar] An Ashland solar company, Stracker Solar, will install five dual-axis solar trackers at the TC Chevy dealership in Ashland Monday. Stracker Solar’s systems include an array of 28 bifacial solar panels on dual-axis trackers mounted on 20-foot poles, said Brigitta Banki, marketing and communications director for Stracker Solar. The trackers follow the sun, facing it throughout the day. A press release from Stracker Solar said the five trackers to be installed will produce 140,000 kilowatt hours of solar power per year. “We are very aware of the local sentiment toward clean energy and sustainability,” Derek DeBoer, owner of TC Chevy, said in a press release. “We thought it was time that an auto dealership goes beyond just selling electric vehicles and takes the lead in implementing clean energy measures,” he said. The solar system’s power output will equate to 99.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide reduction in the atmosphere, the equivalent of 117 acres of forest, the release said. Jeff Sharpe, founder and CEO of Stracker Solar, said in the release that he was delighted to finally proceed with the project after unprecedented supply chain delays.
