LOCAL AND PERSONAL A jitney belonging to the Lewis auto line went into the ditch near the Jackson place on the Pacific highway Friday. The car was badly damaged. It is alleged that the jitney was traveling by the lights of a car ahead and when the car turned the corner left him in the dark, causing the driver to lose his bearings. The regular first of the month meeting of the city council will be held next Tuesday evening at the council chambers. Consideration of the Bullis railroad proposition will be the most important matter. Action toward the elimination of weeds on vacant lots will also be taken. The monthly salary warrants will also be allowed, with the regular batch of bills. At a regular meeting of Medford Camp No. 90 Woodmen of the World, held last Wednesday night, it was arranged to hold the annual Woodmen memorial services at the I. O. O. cemetery Sunday morning, June 4th, for the purpose of decorating the graves of its deceased members. All the members of the order are expected to meet at the hall promptly at 9 o'clock and march to the cemetery to take part in these exercises and to bring as many flowers as possible for decoration purposes. SOCIETY The Moose entertained over 150 members and friends with a dancing party at their hall Tuesday evening, there being almost too large a crowd for the size of the hall. It was decided to give another dance Saturday evening in the Natatorium hall in order to give those who attended a better chance to dance. The Moose socials are becoming more and more popular at every session. The members of the Epworth league enjoyed a box social and old-fashioned literary society program in the social hall of the Methodist church Wednesday evening. The girls came dressed in aprons and the boys wore overalls, and each one was called upon to take part in an impromptu program. A very pleasant evening was enjoyed under the direction of Miss Georgia Whillock, who had the evening's entertainment in charge.
