Top-rated NAIA school blows away SOU ASHLAND Southern Oregon University womens basketball team discovered why the University of St. Francis is the NAIAs top-rated team Saturday as the Cougars rolled to an 87-53 win. It was the Raiders worst home loss in 15 years and only their seventh setback at McNeal Pavilion in 61 games since 1996. The Fort Wayne, Ind., squad raced to an 18-8 lead midway through the first half before the Raiders chipped the deficit to 25-22 with 4:33 left. The Cougars, however, went on a 13-2 run to sit atop a comfortable 38-24 halftime lead. "We had our spurts and our moments of playing well in the first half," said SOU coach Shirley Huyett. "Theyre just a good team and made us pay for every mistake we made."
