Crater players to sign today Amy Denson and Sarah Pool are the local early birds set to accept Division I basketball scholarships today. The Crater duo, which has led the Comet girls to back-to-back Class 4A state runner-up finishes, will sign with Pacific-10 Conference women's programs today at 3:30 p.m. in the Crater High lobby. Today is the first day of the one-week early signing period. Denson, a 6-foot forward selected second-team all-state as a junior last winter, is headed to Arizona State. Pool, a 5-6 point guard who received honorable mention in last year's all-state voting, goes south to play for California. "They're really excited to get it out of the way - to be able to play and not worry about where they're gonna go and all that," Comets head coach David Heard said. Crater tips off its regular season Dec. 4 at Springfield. Eric Fiegi, a 6-9, 240-pound senior for the South Medford boys team, is considering options and hasn't decided on a school.   Mail Tribune Home | Ottaway Newspapers, Inc. | Dow Jones & Co., Inc. | Privacy | Contact Us Copyright 2001 Mail Tribune, Inc.
