Apart from minor accidents, the Oregon State Police reported a long line of slow-moving vehicles in the higher elevations, where chains were required. The National Weather Service measured 1.5 inches of snow by Sunday morning at the Medford airport. Altogether only .04 inch of precipitation was recorded since midnight Saturday through Sunday morning. Some areas like Gold Hill, Ashland and Shady Cove reported only a minor dusting. Icy conditions were reported and some snow fell along Interstate 5 toward Roseburg. Advertisement "Most of the snow fell in Northern California," said Larry Jacobs, hydrometeorological technician with the weather service. By Sunday afternoon, the snow had melted from the valley floor. "We’re drying out and there will be a gradual warming trend through Thursday," said Jacobs. Early Tuesday morning, the Rogue Valley will dip into the high 20s. but later in the week temperatures should climb into the low 30s at night and into the 40s during the day. To date, the amount of rainfall recorded at the Medford airport is 9.15 inches for the season, slightly ahead of the average of 8 inches. Last week, the Rogue Valley received about an inch of rain. The beginning of another storm system is expected to arrive in the area Thursday night, but weather forecasters expect it will be a little warmer initially. However, by the weekend the series of storms will become colder, potentially bringing more snow to the valley floor. In the meantime, valley fog will persist during the morning, but burn off by the afternoon.
