Once that need is filled, donations may be distributed to others in need. Finding purpose and pleasure in running, this single mom is leaving behind a life of substance abuse. Drug- and alcohol-free for two years, the 32-year-old Medford woman could continue her pursuit of healthier habits with the gift of running shoes, workout clothes and a lightweight but warm jacket. Her three children also could use some new shoes and clothing and would delight in a few holiday gifts. The entire family would benefit from a new dining room table, where they gather not only to eat, but to pray and spend time together. Christian faith has guided this family through the child-welfare system. Now on a steady path, the woman volunteers with Foundations for Recovery and Narcotics Anonymous. She wishes for gift cards to take her kids to Tinseltown, Rogue Air and Rogue Valley Family Fun Center. Superheroes and Disney characters appeal to all three kids: 7-year-old twins, a boy and girl, and their 5-year-old brother. The older boy would love Spider-Man bedding, Legos, a remote-controlled car and Spider-Man battery-powered, ride-on toy. His sister loves anything — bedding, dolls and a battery-powered, ride-on toy — from the animated film “Frozen.” The twins each wear size-6 clothing and shoes in sizes 12 and 1, respectively. Their younger brother would prefer Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bedding and a Lightning McQueen battery-powered, ride-on toy. He wears size-5T clothes and size-11 shoes. All three kids would enjoy bath toys and dream of owning a gaming console or tablets to use while their mother is volunteering with recovery groups.
