How you can help Thursday Nov 17, 2016 at 5:34 PM Nov 17, 2016 at 5:34 PM Great Holiday Meal Drive on now at Safeway, Albertsons KOBI-TV/NBC5 and KOTI-TV/NBC2 are partnering with Safeway, Albertsons, US Bank and Jackson Care Connect for the third annual Great Holiday Meal Drive in November and December. Last year the drive raised more than $200,000 and provided 3,855 meals to local families. People can donate to the Great Holiday Meal Drive by purchasing $1, $5 and $10 Turkey and Santa Buck tax-exempt donations at any Southern Oregon Safeway or Albertsons checkout stand. Custom donations are also accepted. NBC5 anchors will broadcast live from 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Safeway store at 3169 Crater Lake Highway in Medford to introduce individuals and families who stop by to donate.  Salvation Army needs bell ringers The Salvation Army is hiring bell ringers to supervise the red kettles where people can drop their donations at various venues to help needy families. Those hired will receive minimum wage. Applications for the positions can be picked up at 304 Beatty St., Medford, and are accepted from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 22. Sign up with Salvation Army The Salvation Army Medford Citadel Corps is signing up families in Jackson County for Christmas assistance of both food and gifts. The organization plans to assist between 700 and 800 families, providing holiday food baskets and toys and gifts for children from newborn through age 17. The final signup will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the Salvation Army Medford Citadel Corps, 304 Beatty St., Medford. Earlier signups were held in November.
