Logan Boyd came off the bench to smack two home runs in the sixth — a solo and a three-run shot — as Medford piled up 21 hits. Chad Hegdahl led the offensive fireworks with five hits in as many at-bats, and had two home runs to go with six runs and seven RBIs. Hegdahl and the Mustangs (23-7) used the momentum from the first game and turned it into a 12-2 victory over the Siskiyou Spirits in the second game. Hegdahl finished Game 2 with a pair of hits and completed his day 7-for-9 at the plate with nine RBIs. Advertisement In the opener, Josh Suarez went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, Tim Holtz was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and Dan Chancler had two hits and four RBIs. Against Siskiyou, Tyler Heil scattered four hits over five innings of work to up his record to 3-1. Rob Folsom went 2-for-3 and belted his sixth homer of the season, while Brenton Ferguson ripped a three-run shot. Amateur Baseball SOUTHERN OREGON RIVERDOGS 10, PORTLAND ROYALS 5 — Blake St. Onge went 4-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the Southern Oregon RiverDogs amateur baseball team to a victory over the Portland Royals at Miles Field. St. Onge keyed a five-run fourth inning with a two-RBI single that upped the Southern Oregon lead to 10-1. Ryan Heil had two hits, while Derek Draper and Brett Timmerman each went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Brandon Willer recorded his first pitching victory against no losses behind five innings of work. Little League Baseball 11-12-YEAR-OLD DISTRICT 6 TOURNAMENT — At Klamath Falls, pitcher Bradey Shipley gave up four hits as Medford American Blue defeated Ashland, 6-2, in the championship game of the tournament. Medford, which finished 6-0, moves on to the state tournament held in Gresham on July 17. Colin Sowers went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and four RBIs and Cody James had four hits in as many at-bats. Matt Maurer and Michael Bradshaw also helped Medford’s offensive cause with two hits apiece. Ashland finished with a 5-1 mark in tournament play. DISTRICT 6 SOFTBALL — At Ashland, Allison Haas had six strikeouts in five innings of work as Medford American scored a 15-5 victory over South Suburban in pool play at the five- team all-star tournament at Hunter Park. Kelsie Bartley led the offense with two hits and two RBIs. In another pool play contest, Phoenix/Talent beat Ashland 27-23.
