With the Athens Games dominating the airwaves the next two weeks, we wanted to know: "Do you plan to watch the coverage of the Olympics and, if so, what events will you follow?" Your answers follow. After reading them, please take a moment to answer our new question, about a marathon of a different sort. Advertisement Yes, I plan on watching. I enjoy the opening ceremonies, swimming, gymnastics & diving. — J.L.D., Central Point Absolutely! I follow gymnastics, diving, swimming and all the track and field events the closest, though I watch pretty much anything and everything because I love the Olympics. — Cami, Central Point I will watch as many events as my schedule allows — with a few exceptions like synchronized swimming. — Jim H., White City Women’s wrestling will debut at the Athens Olympics. I will be certain to follow various nations weaknesses and strengths. Islamic terrorists may not be too happy with the women showing their skills. — Chris G., Medford I look forward to the two-man "bag search," and the 500 meter "terrified tourist relay." — Darryl E., Eagle Point Very few. I prefer to watch amateurs, not a bunch of rich pro's taking the place of deserving young kids. Return the games to the youth and keep the millionaires out of it. — Richard O., Sunnyvale, Calif. Events I will follow: 1. Swimming; 2. Diving; 3. Track and Field; 4. Tennis; 5. Gymnastics. — Jarmila F., Medford I look forward to the gymnastics and the diving events. They require so much precision and accuracy. — D.J., Gold Hill I will be watching Tommy Pappas win the Gold Medal in the Decathlon! — Ginny R., Central Point This week’s question Over the past two weeks the Rogue Valley has welcomed appearances by Vice President Dick Cheney and Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic nominee for president. But we already knew that those guys were running. We’d rather think out of the ballot box, as it were. There have to be other people in the limelight that could add a little spice to the campaign. With that in mind, we ask: "If you could select a person from any field other than politics to run for President, who would you choose, and why?" And sorry Ralph Nader fans, but after numerous runs for the office, he’s now considered a politician. Please keep your answers brief and on the topic.
