Selma man arrested after ramming police car Tuesday Dec 27, 2016 at 4:37 PM By Troy Shinn Grants Pass Daily Courier A Selma man is in custody, charged with ramming a police car Monday night in Grants Pass and then fleeing into a stranger's home, police said. The incident began to play out just before 10 p.m. when an officer performed a traffic stop on a Ford pickup truck on Southeast Eighth Street, near the downtown Safeway store. According to a news release, the traffic stop went smoothly until officers discovered multiple active warrants for the arrest of the driver, 47-year-old James V. Siehien. Told that he was under arrest, Siehien tried to flee the scene by ramming into a patrol vehicle, police said. An officer sprayed Siehien with pepper spray before he attempted to drive off. Meanwhile, a female passenger in the truck attempted to get out of the vehicle. Siehien allegedly held her inside the vehicle while driving away, eventually pushing her out of the moving truck. She sustained minor injuries and was later released by police. Assisted by Oregon State Police troopers, officers set up a perimeter in the area and soon discovered Siehien's pickup truck abandoned in an alley. Siehien was seen fleeing into a residence near the corner of Southeast I and 10th streets. Police placed a call to the resident in the house, who confirmed that Siehien was inside. Siehien exited the house shortly after and was arrested on multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, eluding and kidnapping. In addition to a warrant for parole violation, he was found in possession of counterfeit $50 bills and was booked on a forgery charge.
