Meet the candidates at an election forum An election forum featuring candidates for county commissioner, state representative, and the Circuit Court bench will be held Tuesday at Walker Hall (formerly Two Pines Playhouse) in Shady Cove. The "Meet Your 2002 Candidates" forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments. The open forum will follow at 7 p.m. It's sponsored by the Upper Rogue Regional Tourism Alliance, also known as the Shady Cove-Upper Rogue Chamber. Shady Cove Mayor Tom Anderson will welcome the candidates and guests. At the forum, candidates will be invited to present their election platform. Following each candidate's three-minute presentation, moderator Dick Bailey will open the forum to audience questions and discussion. Candidates expected at the forum include Jackson County commissioner candidates vying for Position 1: Republican Curt Chancler, Democrat John Hallett, and Republican incumbent Jack Walker; Jackson County commissioner candidates for Position 3: Republican Diane Davidson, Republican incumbent Ric Holt, Republican Walt Fitzgerald, and Democrat Dave Gilmour; and candidates vying for Jackson County Circuit Court judge, Bill Purdy and Joe Charter. Also expected are candidates for the state Representative 55th District seat, Republican George Gilman and Democrat Karole S. Stockton, although she has not yet confirmed attendance. Sheriff's candidate Mike Winters will be introduced. Once you get to Shady Cove, follow the red, white and blue balloons to the forum.
