Police search for machete-wielding robbery suspect Wednesday Feb 22, 2017 at 2:02 PM Feb 22, 2017 at 3:51 PM Ryan Pfeil Mail Tribune @RyanPfeil Police are looking for a man they say robbed a White City gas station of cash and cigarettes while armed with a machete last weekend. The robbery occurred at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the 76 gas station near the intersection of Highway 62 and Antelope Road, according to Capt. Tim Snaith of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Prior to the robbery, a man described as about 5-feet-11 and "scruffy" approached an attendant and asked for a pack of cigarettes, Snaith said. The man then indicated he had forgotten his wallet and said he would return soon. “Shortly thereafter, the male comes back to the gas station attendant, and he’s wearing gloves and a bandanna over his face,” Snaith said. The man was also holding a machete and demanded cash and cigarettes. The attendant complied, and the man fled across Highway 62 to a dark-colored sedan with LED headlights. No one was hurt. The suspect wore a dark-colored hat, dark pants and a gray, hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the sheriff's office.
