It spoke volumes on Friday night as Phoenix rolled to a 60-31 Skyline Conference girls basketball victory over Rogue River. Reed tallied 17 points and four assists as the Pirates improved to 7-5, 3-1 in the conference. "She’s kind of our quiet leader," Phoenix coach Kyle Walker said of the 5-foot-7 senior off-guard. "Shannon probably had her best game of the year," he said. "It’s the most points she’s scored, but she also had a good all- around game for us." Reed was 4-of-4 on free throws in the first quarter and scored eight of the Pirates’ 11 points. A 22-point second quarter left Phoenix with a 33-19 halftime lead. "I think we were a little deeper than they were," said Walker. "We kept pressure on them the whole game." Rogue River committed 31 turnovers to the Pirates’ 21. Kristi Duffell scored 13 points and Kelly Meredith 12 for Phoenix, while Kat Cox contributed nine rebounds and five steals. Laura Jones paced Rogue River with 12 points.
