Abbott turns in swift times for Tornado PREP TRACK The mercury rose and times went down in Southern Oregon Conference dual track and field meets on Thursday. North Medford's Jennifer Abbott flashed to a quick double in the sprints at Ashland, stopping the clock in 12.5 seconds in the 100 meters and 25.4 in the 200 meters -- second fastest among the state's listed girls marks this spring. Jackie Woods won three events, including a 1:04-flat 400 meters, while Rosa Curry-Nodyke tacked on wins in the high jump (5-2) and triple jump (31-0) as the Grizzlies prevailed, 81-63. North Medford won the boys competition, 74-71, thanks to a 3:33.3 performance in the 1,600 relay. North Medford's Scott Meyers outdueled Ashland's Nick Bakke in the shot put with a 51-10 effort, while Bakke hit 50-8. Meyers outhrew Bakke in the discus with a 142-2 effort. Bakke won the javelin (188-5) and triple jump (41-5). Eagle Point had three double-winners on the track and won both relays to edge Crater's boys, 73-71, at Central Point. Sean Johnston won the 100 (11.5) and 200 (23.9) and John Lucas claimed the 800 (2:04.1) and 1,500 (4:17.6) then ran legs on the winning 1,600 relay (3:39.5) that along with John Bilden and Allen Burke. Phil Garrett was double-winner in the hurdles (15.8, 42.8). Crater's Brad Ralph won the discus (144-10) and javelin (175-5), while Joel Wangle leaped 20-6 in the long jump and 42-10 1/2 in the triple jump. Crater's girls topped Eagle Point, 80-64 as Rhonda Lamson posted a unique 100-800 doubles. She was clocked in 12.7 for the 100 and ran the 800 in 2:40.8.
