Eagles charge into lead at Sierra Classic RENO, Nevada -- With 90 teams from nine states showing up at the Sierra Nevada Wrestling Classic, Eagle Point coach Brad McBee didn't know exactly what to expect from his Eagles. What he got was a Herculean effort from all 14 wrestlers in uniform as the Eagles soared into the first-day lead. B.J. McFall (135 pounds), Chet McBee (145), Evan Pogue (160) and Blake Cam (275) all marched into the semifinals for the Eagles. Pogue knocked off No. 2 seeded Chad Conley of Spring Creek, Nev., 6-5 in one quarterfinal matchup and McBee stunned defending tournament champion Buster McBee of Lowry High in Winemucca, Nevada 10-3. "Both of those kids did a great job," coach McBee said. "Pogue took his guy down in the third period to get the win and Chet took his guy down four times and also got a reversal. "With all of the teams here, I'm a little surprised we came away with the lead after day one. There's a lot of good schools from California and several other states. "But we wrestled well. We got four kids in the semifinals and we've still got six left in the consolation rounds. Plus, we picked up a lot of pin points and major decisions that really helped us out." Still alive in the consolation bracket are Justin Winner (103), Adam Bancroft (125), Scott Stockton (130), John Gallo (140), Darek Smith (152) and James Mannenbach (171).
