SOU men breeze past Albertson ATHERTON, Calif. - Holding No. 8-ranked Albertson to 35.7-percent field-goal shooting in the second half, the Southern Oregon men's basketball team forged a 71-59 victory at the Menlo Tournament. Forward Matt Zosel scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds - seven offensive - for the Raiders (4-3). SOU guard Hamilton Barnes went 5-for-7 from 3-point range for a team-high 15 points. Teammate Martin DeGroot chimed in with 11 points, four assists and three rebounds. "Reed Sorensen came off the bench and played wonderful," SOU coach Brian McDermott said of his reserve post. "They were just 4-for-18 on (3-point attempts), and he did a very nice job of helping to disrupt those looks." Total fouls-Albertson 13, SOU 16.   Women's Basketball SOUTHERN OREGON 87, PACIFIC UNION 60 - At Oakland, Calif., precise offense and stingy defense propelled the Raider women to a victory in the consolation game of the Holy Names Tournament. The Raiders shot 55 percent from the field and forced 30 turnovers, 24 of which were Raider steals. Sara Marks led the Raiders (3-3) with 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting while Jaime Stanford added 16 and collected seven boards. Krissy Harris paced Pacific Union's offense with 26 points, eight boards and five assists.
