Yet he continues to refuse to tell the people what is his position on abortion rights. Is he prepared to defend the current regulations governing abortion rights in Oregon, or will he seek to abolish these? We don’t know. In something as important as this, particularly to women, how can anyone vote for someone whose position is unknown? In contrast, Jeff Golden has clearly stated his support for women’s reproductive rights and is prepared to defend these in the Senate. Brenda Blair Ashland Vote no on parks measures As a former Ashland parks commissioner, in the 1990s, I recognize the time, effort and love for parks our commissioners dedicate to their volunteer job. I’m voting no on both parks measures. Measure 15-210 would change the historic Ashland City Charter, which established the Parks Commission — not just another city department — in 1908 specifically to allow elected representatives to acquire and care for their precious parks (Lithia and future parks) with a dedicated taxing authority. Unfortunately, this tax revenue was effectively lost in 1995 due to the statewide Measure 5. Now, if Ashland residents vote yes, they give control of their parks to a non-elected city manager who has to deal with all city business. Despite claims that the city budget allocates sufficient funds to Parks and Recreation, it clearly does not. Vote no on Measures 15-210 and 15-211. Keep parks a vital part of our livable city. Teri Coppedge Ashland Supporting Jeff Golden Vote for Jeff Golden. I have seen over time the commitment Jeff gives to any endeavor in which he is involved. He has demonstrated that same commitment to his role in public office for the last four years. He has been instrumental in achieving more money for our law enforcement to detect and eliminate illegal cannibus grows. He led the way to develop a plan for fire suppression in our state. Jeff’s other goal is to pass Measure 107, which limits and regulates campaign contributions. Let’s send Jeff back to Salem to continue working for Oregon. Nancy Hanon Central Point
