Evangeline Mae Jordan Sunday Oct 30, 2016 at 2:00 AM March 18, 1919 - October 25, 2016 In loving memory Evangeline Mae Jordan went to be with the Lord October 25, 2016 in Ashland Ore. Mae was born in Scappoose, Ore. She was the daughter of Roy and Phyllis (Bennett) Marcott, a farmer and homemaker. Mae graduated from Scappoose High School. On June 5, 1937 Mae married Orville Kyle Jordan of Whitehall, Mont. in Scappose, Ore. They moved to north Portland where they worked at the Swan Island Shipyard constructing Victory Ships for the war effort. They had twin boys who entered eternity shortly after birth in 1942. In 1944, Darryl was born, followed by three daughters Helen, Phyllis, and Carla. In the mid '40s, Orville and Mae owned and operated a "mom-and-pop" grocery store in Portland. Later, Mae worked in the retail business and, subsequently, Mae returned to school to become an LPN. She worked for many years at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in northwest Portland. The entire family enjoyed tennis, fishing, and clamming. Mae was a passionate cook. She collected recipes and created cookbooks for wedding gifts. She also won a Pillsbury Cookie Contest for a chocolate coconut marshmallow cookie that she created. She loved to sew dresses for her daughters. Mae was a photographer. She developed her own pictures in the 1940s and then "touch painted" the facial features. At 75, Mae took up painting becoming a gifted artist. She loved flowers and gardening. Mae was a devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church in north Portland. She loved her church. Mae knew Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and now has gone to be with Him. In a recent service, she enjoyed singing, “When we all get to heaven.” Mae is survived by her son and his wife, Darryl and Becky Jordan of Malaybalay, Philippines; three daughters and their spouses, Helen and David Kroll of Madison, Wis., Phyllis and Daniel Walker of Medford, Ore., and Carla and Lonnie Moore of Vancouver, Wash. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Orville, and brothers, Tharrel and Virgil Marcott. A memorial service celebrating Mae's life and memory will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1800 Ashland Street, Ashland, Ore.
