There has been rather less good will hereabouts the past few months than usual. Tomorrow at the Community Christmas tree is an excellent time to start a movement toward a return to Medford normalcy — a return to the unity, enterprise and community fellowship which has distinguished Medford above every other city in the state in the past. Make this Community Christmas an annual feature, and while a special celebration Christmas eve is splendid, it should not be regarded as sufficient. Let the fine spirit of community goodwill and loyalty which prompts this observance, be given such a hearty boost at the gathering tomorrow that it will be a constructive force of good through every day of the New Year. [Editorial] PERSONALS About 135 children of Medford and vicinity will be the guests of the Economy Groceteria at a big Christmas dinner to be tendered them tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Holland cafe. Rev. J. R. Sasnett will ask the blessing and Mayor C. E. Gates will act as Santa Claus. After the entertainment program is over the children will march to the Community three Christmas doings on the public library lawn. ------ The big Christmas tree for the community Christmas celebration to be held on the public library lawn, was put up today and partly decorated. The final decorations will be put on during the day tomorrow. The tree program will begin at 5 o’clock tomorrow afternoon in order that it will be over in plenty of time for attendance to the evening services at the various churches. With good weather an immense throng of people of all ages is expected to be present. ------ A gay holiday crowd will gather at the fair grounds pavilion tonight for the Christmas party which begins at 9 p.m. Many out of town “dance enthusiasts” are expected to be among those present. ------ A number of electricians including the dexterous Ben Trowbridge were at work this morning on the library front lawn arranging the electric lights for the community Christmas tree exercises which will be held tomorrow at five p.m. ------ The church bells of the city will ring at 5 p.m. tomorrow to remind people of the hour of the Community Christmas tree. Bands of girls from the Girls Reserve have planned to go over the city and stop and carol Christmas songs wherever they see a lighted candle in the window. — Alissa Corman; [email protected]
