With no street lights out there, it’s hard to see the road at night. — Jody S., Medford You’ll probably be seeing fresh stripes out there in a few weeks, Jody. Larry Goddard, who supervises Jackson County’s road-striping crew, says North Phoenix Road is on his list for re-striping this spring, but the asphalt needs to get warmer before his crew can get to work. Goddard said road striping generally doesn’t begin until spring temperatures push the asphalt temperatures up to 60 or 70 degrees. Warm pavement helps the paint dry quickly, Goddard said. If the paint doesn’t dry in a hurry, it streaks when cars cross the lines, making a mess on the road — and on cars and trucks, too. Don’t expect new stripes much before mid-April at the earliest, Goddard said. Send questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
