South Medford court will be dedicated to Dennis Murphy South Medford High School Athletic Director Dennis Murphy celebrates his retirement June 18. Photo by Larry Stauth Jr. Wednesday Jan 11, 2017 at 12:24 PM Jan 11, 2017 at 3:44 PM South Medford High School will dedicate its basketball gym floor as "Dennis Murphy Court" Friday prior to the boys basketball team's home game at 6:45 p.m. against Sheldon. A short ceremony will be held before the game honoring Murphy, who retired last year after 28 seasons as South Medford's head coach. He also served as the Panthers' athletic director for 16 years. Murphy compiled a 574-168 record during his time at South Medford, winning a state title in 2007 to go with runner-up showings in 2006 and 2016. He previously coached St. Mary's to a 123-42 mark over seven years. Murphy's 697-210 record in 35 seasons ranks him No. 3 on Oregon's all-time boys basketball coaching victory list, and he has the highest winning percentage at 76.8.
